About the Song
The Open Gate was the third single released from the Worlds Apart Album.
It was chosen because of the positive feedback from both radio play and
concert appearance. The song was later chosen by Details magazine to be
included on their New Music sampler. It appeared on the sampler along
with artists as diverse as Tori Amos, Brian McKnight, the B52's, Public
Enemy, XTC, EPMD, Kimm Rogers, Big Audio Dynamite II and Something Happens!.
Over 20,000 samplers were given out with the then current issue of the
Details Magazine. The Open Gate received extensive airplayon regional
and national shows like Power Play Music Video and even got a test on
MTV.
About the Video
The Open Gate was the fourth Music Video produced by API
Records. It included a completely professional crew including a choreographer
and set designer from NYC along with professional dancers including JJ
North who has gone on to become a rather well known actress. The concept
revolves around a cartoon interpretation of the rather oblique and symbolic
lyric.
